.114
[IMP] - validates metadata when scanning before reading it in.

**[FIX] - fix truncation of large soundfiles when embedding (~310 MB)

[NEW] - Support for new Soundminer License Manager

[FIX] - Bug when editing metadata in detail window, field contents would disappear.

[IMP] - BWDate and BWTime added to broadcase wave fields

[FIX] - Timestamp embedding / editing in BWAV files. (Problems with PowerPC vs IntelMac versions)

[NEW] - Strict filetype check(defaults to ON) - when referencing original allows you to turn off the strictness check on filetype. Meaning you can send AIFF/WAVE/Sound Designer II files into a ProTools session and mix formats.

[IMP] - Close all files prior to embedding. Could crash when trying to embed a file as it was playing / in use.

[IMP] - Advanced Find persists.

[IMP] - database list in alpha order for local

[FIX] - playHistory clear actually clears

[IMP] - transfer folder icon in spotting panel

[IMP] - transfer folder swaps to ProTools afterwards

[IMP] - set xferpath in spotting panel updates view

[IMP] - playhistory icon in toolbar now has a menu to clear playhistory.

[IMP] - refreshes view after modifying metadata in info window on local db's.

[IMP] - fix playhistory persists across database change.

[FIX] - Batch Xfer Exception on some Transfer Folder

[IMP] - Import Text with HFS(:) pathnames under certain conditions

[FIX] - Advanced Find not working on Server under certain circumstances

[IMP] - ping server once an hour to keep connection alive, so we don't timeout if user leaves Soundminer running.

[IMP] - remember audition volume preference

[IMP] - toggling through items in the metadata detail info window updates the overview and sidepanel(so you can audition sounds as you scroll through items)

[IMP] - When updating metadata on server, browser keeps view relatively close to before the metadata was committed.

[FIX] - Metadata editing works with MySQL v4 server

[NEW] - Send to application from browser/spotting panel. (Recognizes various Audio Apps and allows you to send references to the application. The same as dragging from the finder onto the dock icon of the app.) Use menu item to choose application, use the send to toolbar icon to send.

[NEW] - Send to Final Cut Pro - works with browser records. Select multiple and click the FCP toolbar icon, it'll either reference original or copy/convert to the transferpath and open up in Final Cut. Currently Description goes into description, scene=scene, shot=shottake, notes,=lognote, publisher=mastercomment1,composer=mastercomment2,

[NEW] - begun support for database lists on multiple volumes

[NEW] - New improved "Freelance Mode" - Put soundminer on a Firewire drive and it'll use the contents of "Soundminer Support" on the top level of that drive. (When launched it'll automatically create and use this folder) OR... Keep Soundminer in the Applications Folder and when launched it'll check mounted volumes for a top level folder called Soundminer Support, and if located will use the first one it finds for databases/preferences/spotting list. (As opposed to home/library/application support/soundminer)

[IMP] - Caches folder used in support folder instead of Temporary Directory(this will stop the trash from being filled with artwork jpegs after restarting)

[CHG] - Nuendo behavior when spotting vs. bring into. Spotting uses the Nuendo Spot API like before. Bring into will either copy convert or reference original(depending on your preference) and then send reference to the files in, Nuendo will then prompt you whether you want it to handle the conversions. This is more like old v3 behavior.

[IMP] - Validate file for reference original in debug menu. Reports back why a file will be converted, or if it can be used directly. (Use for troubleshooting)

[IMP] - Chase preference persists.

[CHG] - Artwork side panel. First recall will be a little slower while it caches the artwork, but afterwards nice and speedy.

[IMP] - Leopard(OS 10.5) Compatibility

[IMP] - When importing v3 database, brings Scene into Scene, Arranger into Arranger, BWDescription to Description(if empty/blank), Region Name to FXName, RegionIn & RegionOut. RegionIn and RegionOut will show you the in/out point, and you can modify for transferring, tagging, but when modified it doesn't "update" the original database. This is a design choice at the moment.

[IMP] - Vertical zoom slider

[IMP] - Rewire improvements

[IMP] - when reached end of file during playback, hitting spacebar again begins playback from beginning.

[IMP] - Mood field added to Music Database format

[IMP] - With white background, vertical scroller is now dark grey

[IMP] - Quickkeys are no longer case sensitive.(You can have the caps lock key and hit s to spot and it'll work)

[NEW] - Triple clicking a record edits the field you clicked in (if you have permission to do so).

[NEW] - e key edit's the last clicked cell.(if permission to do so is granted for server databases)

[NEW] - Spotting panel button to toggle the selected folder into the browser and back again.

// NOT YET :o( [IMP] - Hitting escape when editing a field's contents in the main browser aborts editing.
[CHG] - If description is blank(not just NIL) then looks for spotlight comments

[IMP] - Changing filename by editing it directly in the browser renames the file on a source level as well.

[IMP] - Hitting play on blank search doesn't call up Sound File Access Error dialog.

[IMP] - After a search, first record is selected.

[CHG] - mirror properties(sample rate, bitdepth, filetype, interleaved flag) independent of main transfer settings.

[CHG] - ProTools UMID preserved when optimizing audio files.

[FIX] - Building overviews for Sound Designer II files.

[IMP] - Trim leaading/trailing whitespace from a field

Soundminer v4.1 release candidate - Of importance to me personally is rewire. If you have any problems please provide crash logs(for whatever app[protools or soundminer]) console logs and ProTools version (ie... 7.3.1csx, and machine specs[intelmac vs. powermac[) thanks

** The biggest change is a *fantastic* version of rewire that really seems to be working well. There is a bit of visual latency from what you see and what you hear but with proTools set to 256 samples in playback settings this is quite good. Its certainly a dramatic improvement than ever before. I was quite happily busing it to a track, throwing ProTools in record and playing Soundminer messing around with Pitch and plugins and recording everything.) Plus 48 hours of stress tests(random play's / starts over a 48 hour period via a special script)

(instantiate as Instrument on a Track or Bus[SMv4 Engine]

(Most recent notes at bottom)

Backup the entire home/library/application support/soundminer folder, so if there is a major bug in this version you can go back and use the older v4 soundminer. Once this version touches those databases there is no going back! (It updates the structure of the databases)

When you launch this version its going to need to reindex the databases as you toggle through them, this is going to take some time depending on the size of each database, but just be patient, once its done you should experience fast searches. If a particular database crashes when you toggle to it delete the *.ind file(or all of them if you can't figure out the problem db) in the home/library/application support/soundminer. These files contain the indexes for searching and will be rebuilt if missing[again, takes some time but fixes most problems].

.124

[IMP] - Remove xxx characters from beginning of field

[IMP] - After editing a field in the browser, tweaks to the screen update.

[IMP] - + / - buttons for adding / removing playlists

[IMP] - Creating a playlist now prompts you for a name first.

[NEW] - UNDO / REDO for most metadata editing functions.

[NEW] - Copy in edit menu - copies selected records visible metadata if user has "export records" permission

[IMP] - set transferred / untransferred flag works for folders and their contents now.

[IMP] - Play history triangle in icon

[IMP] - More verbose error message when trying to connect to MySQL

[NEW] - Copy Records / Paste Records - sounds need to be online(mounted) and for server users "Dump Records" permission for copy and "Scan Records" for paste. This allows you to select records in one database, copy, swap databases and paste. Technically I suppose the files don't have to be online(mounted) but it'd be messy to circumvent it. The metadata can be database only(not embedded in the files). Its also using RAM to hold the records metadata so this is useful for a few hundred items, I wouldn't expect it to work efficiently with 1000's of records. A merge feature would be more appropriate in that case(either merge databases or merge selected into another database)

[IMP] - Set Transfer Path Icon on main browser screen. Use to quickly set transfer path...

[IMP] - Build overview for selected icon

[IMP] - REDO is working...

[IMP] - Clear out undo queue when swapping databases...

[IMP] - Browser Header(with all the titles) scrolls properly into view when changing columns/metadata

[NEW] - Paste from the menu pastes from the first selected row into the description field incrementally

[NEW] - Paste into Field (via right click on the field) pastes into that field.
(both observe editRecords permission)

[NEW] - Hand icon and tooltip help for drag from waveform

[IMP] - Dragging(command key held down) from the browser, drags stems(.L/.R, etc) as well

[IMP] - As above for "Send To"

[IMP] - "Send to" added to edit menu(along with toolbar icon). Send to will simply send a reference of the selected files to the Target app. The files need to be mounted. It bypasses the spotting panel entirely, and does the same as dragging files onto the application icon in the dock.

[CHG] - Double click in spotting panel now plays sound.(not edit) - hold option and click to quickly edit

[FIX] - adding to spotting panel when a file is selected add's it into the folder, not the top level of the spotting panel.

[IMP] - Detail info window code more streamlined

[IMP] - After hitting e, you can now use the arrow keys to move up down records, and hit e to edit that record's last clicked field. (Good for just going next to next to next)

[IMP] - Metadata Detail panel fontsize follows main browser.

[NEW] - Spot to Soundtrack Pro Toolbar Icon. Soundtrack Pro doesn't support spotting in regions, or spotting multiple sounds to a track head to tail. So really it's find a sound and spot a sound to the timeline. STP also doesn't like split stereo files, so clicking on the Spot STP icon in the toolbar will enforce interleaved conversions.

[IMP] - Simplified DAW Interface. Soundminer now detects common DAW applications, you choose which one you want to use in the "DAW App" menu. The new "spot to DAW" icon in the toolbar will visually change to show you the current selection. You may need to customize toolbar to see this new icon. Send to will send a reference to the soundfiles to the DAW completely bypassing the Spotting Panel.(A quick way to "reference original").

[NEW] - Send into DAW key command Command \

[IMP] - Overview support for mpeg4 files

[NEW] - Drag n drop folder or files onto application icon to scan its contents...(if permission)

[IMP] - Added support for Audiofile Engineering's Wave Editor to DAW list.

[IMP] - Bring Into and Spot now work when a Folder is selected in the spotting panel.

[IMP] - COLORS and gradient selection improved in spotting panel

[IMP] - when using protools and reference original, aborts if the filepath contains an illegal protools character(that would crash ProTools)

[IMP] - Illegal Character list in HELP Menu.

[FIX] - Reference Original and Send to now works with : or / in the filename(for apps other than ProTools)

[NEW] - When setting transfer path, and using ProTools as your DAW, validates the Transfer Path for legal characters.

[NEW] - Drag n drop ProTools session file on Soundminer's icon in dock to match its attributes.

[FIX] - Bring into or Spot listen's to parent folder's xfer path(if set) and also build's folder structure(if toggled on)

[FIX] - Transfer Path when transferring items not in a spotting folder
[NEW] - VST Tail in preferences(in seconds). Only applies when there are active VST plugins.

.125 to .127 to final release.

[NEW] - Launch NetKeyInstall pdf if dongle not found

[IMP] - includes new manual

[IMP] - When DAW is ProTools allow user to toggle spot to track on/off from the toolbar icon.

[FIX] - Folder structure error that occurred when transferring with "build folder structure off" and not going into a spotting folder

.127

[FIX] - Text color is now black in the spotting panel when editing.

[NEW] - Spot as region only available for ProTools / Nuendo(disables automatically) - remembers state when swapping between apps.

[IMP] - More tooltips for spot as region / chase / send to toolbar item / horizontal zoom.

[FIX] - Numbers(sample rate/bitdepth) fields show up in sidepanel...

[IMP] - Sidepanel Fields are in alpha order

[FIX] - Build folder structure for nested folders(broken in earlier build)

[IMP] - Soundminer version number shows up in window title(should help us with screenshots from users)

[IMP] - XML Parser check for mp3 files

[IMP] - Rewire engine...very happy with how this is now working.
[IMP] - Skip Existing flag in mirror. When mirroring multiple times to the same location toggles between skipping the file if it exists already(so just new files get mirrored), vs generating a unique name each time.

[CHG] - Mirroring or transferring a single channel file to an interleaved format uses the .M extension.

[IMP] - Improve playing sound with a selection..Hitting return will play just the selection...before you had to hit it twice. Also fixed a potential crash when you clicked to play past a selection.

[FIX] - skip over stems other than .L - stops crash when ProTools mangles our right channel during save a copy as
