Tiré de la FAQ sur le Kyma:
---
Kyma is a visual sound design environment that runs on your Macintosh or Windows PC. The Capybara is a sound computation engine that hooks up to your Macintosh or Windows PC through a PCI card or FireWire port. You use your Mac or PC to design, layer, and sequence your sounds. You use the Capybara to generate and process your sounds in real time.
You could even think of Kyma as a visual programming language for sound and the Capybara as a multiprocessor computer dedicated to computing or rendering the sound in real time. (This does not mean that Kyma has a geeky command line interface. Kyma is a visual programming language. So you "write" programs by connecting icons on the screen of your Macintosh or Windows PC, and you "schedule" start and stop times of these programs by dragging the icons into a timeline).
What this does mean is that Kyma is an unusually open-ended, flexible, and real-time controllable environment for creating new sounds. Kyma provides you with hundreds of basic modules and over a thousand complex examples that you can combine to create your own synthesis algorithms, your own effects algorithms, and your own forms of sample manipulation that can be performed in real time with responsive controls.

Il faut donc une interface de traitement en plus du soft.
Sinon, c'est comparable à MAX/MSP d'après vous? Ca m'a l'air d'avoir à peu près le même concept, non?
Ha oui, les infos de prix qui calment tout de suite:
