[En] Sonosax SX-R4 metadata / file format issues solved?

Message non lu par Fernando »

Bonjour, (sorry, I can't speak french!)

I'm following the evolution of the SX-R4 recorder for long time and I still would like to get one but a couple of things were missing that I consider very important for film and docu usage, so I'm checking if this has been solved or if, at least, there's any chance it will be solved soon.

- One is edition of the metadata after recording.
This has to be possible within the recorder, not in a computer, since we have to deliver sound every day and in a hurry. So any missmatch with the scene/take etc has to be corrected just after the take or as soon as possible before mirroring the rushes/daylies.

- Another issue I see is not to be able to deliver BWF POLY files.
Has this been changed? Or it is only possible to deliver 1 or 2 channel files? This is very annoying for post.

I was insisting to Sonosax through many forums and they seem to find this issues not important.
I guess that time passed and now they realize how important it is.
Anyway, if they correct this issues they would sell 10 times more recorders for shure. Otherwise they will only sell the R4 to music recordists mostly.

I use a Deva V but I think that the R4 would be ideal for over-the-shoulder work, recording inside vehicles, second units, etc etc. But it has to be up to the task on that issues, otherwise it can't compete with professional recorders for location film recording. IMHO, of course.

Some fresh info will be very appreciated (and sorry again for non-french speaking!)

Merci,

Fernando

Not yet, and i will personaly not hold my breath about this being implemented... But who knows ?

You can do this already (interleaved), even if not really user friendly in the prefs (you have to activate CF mirroring, or something like this).

Bye.
